The Phoenix Stroke Club (Horsham) provides a much loved and valued service for people (our members) who have either had a stroke or have a neurological condition.
We run 3 club days where our members take part in activities, exercises, and entertainment. Through this, we help to restore their confidence, improve their communication skills and provide friendship and support.
We also provide specific communication support one morning a week, this requires 1-2-1 help for those whose language and/or communication skills have been affected by a stroke.
Our Club is run by two part-time salaried staff and a team of 23 capable and very reliable volunteers, who assist our members in learning new skills & hobbies, and encouraging them to continue with existing ones where possible.
Our club formed in 1979, operating from a wooden clubhouse within the grounds of Forest Community School in Horsham, where we still are to this day. The Club has grown substantially since inception and we now find ourselves having to extend our Clubhouse to accommodate an unfortunate growing need. We are currently undertaking substantial alterations and enlargement of the Clubhouse to provide additional space. Our plans include a much needed separate therapy room where therapies can be carried out in privacy. In addition, we need more access for more wheelchair users and we will also include in that the installation of an access lift.
As a small local charity, our income relies heavily on donations and funding. We will be extremely grateful to anyone who supports our Club through the lottery. By doing so you will enable us to develop the club further, support more Stroke survivors in the future and make their dream become a reality.
Thank you for spending time to look at The Phoenix Stroke Club's lottery page, we are very grateful to you for wishing to find out more about our Club and its Members.
Thank you so much for your support and good luck!
